London College of Music Grade 8 Exam Piece for Horn in F until further notice
Supplied with both Horn in F and Tenor Horn in E Flat parts, this is a very attractive scherzo full of technical challenges yet very playable. Requiring careful study and attention to detail it has an equally lively piano part. There is a lovely contrasting middle section before the scherzo returns, ending with a flourish up to top C. An original piece suitable for recital or contest. For schools, studios and professionals. This work was a Guildhall School of Music and Drama Grade 8 exam piece for Horn in F between 1996 and 1999, and was an Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 8 exam piece for Horn in F between 1998 and 2012. It has been a London College of Music grade 8 exam piece for Horn in F since 1994.
Review: “Scherzo is another good brief (136 measures) recital piece for horn and piano in an Allegro 3/8. Anthony Randall has written an ‘Andante Con Moto’ middle section that provides just enough of a change of pace to make it work well. Range – bottom C to top C.” – The Horn Call November 1995
