The fourth movement Yell Yell is a London College of Music Grade 3 Exam Piece until further noticeCommissioned by Fiona Nisbett for a recital in St Albans, this is a selection of five original Scottish reels and folk tunes from various 18th Century sources, reworked and re-harmonised. The style is reminiscent of Malcolm Arnold and all movements contrast well with each other. The first, third and fourth movements have all been London College of Music grade 4, 5 and 3 exam pieces since 2010.
This piece by Dominic Sewell was written for the Junior Course at Pro Corda Summer School (the National String Chamber Music Academy) where it received its first performance. It is an excellent introduction to tonal contemporary music for younger students aged 12 to 18. The piece is good for teaching purposes as it is short but also provides some technical and ensemble difficulties.

This woodwind trio by Dick Blackford was written originally for music students but should appeal to players of all ages. It evokes the spirit of Springtime with its cheerful energy, but a plaintive middle section reminds us that spring must end!
