A brilliant concert piece for a relatively experienced horn player, and one that would make an ideal finale to any recital. A short, suspenseful slow introduction leads straight into the main movement, which is an exciting gallop for both players. The fast tempo aside the range is comfortable and there are no major technical problems for the soloist. This work was an Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 6 Exam Piece between 2013 and 2022.

Supplied with both Horn in F and Tenor Horn in E Flat parts, this lively piece in 6/8 is rhythmically challenging for the intermediate horn player. It requires good finger technique and clean tonguing. There are some unexpected entries, lots of accents and sforzandi and, like Serenade by the same composer, much use is made of the second and third valves. The accompanist is equally rewarded with some interesting music to play. This was a London College of Music grade 5 exam piece for Horn in F between 1994 and 2006.

A wonderfully evocative and atmospheric piece of night music, with its smooth figures built on fourths shared between horn and piano. The introduction of hand stopping and hand glissando (unique features of the French Horn) challenge the musical, technical and interpretive qualities of both the soloist and accompanist. This work was a Trinity College London Horn in F exam piece between 1998 and 2004, and an Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) grade 8 exam piece for Horn in F between 1998 and 2012.
