After two bars of harp like accompaniment the horn enters with a beautiful melody that rises and falls throughout its course, supported by some really gorgeous harmony changes. Lullaby was a Trinity College London grade 6 exam piece for Horn in F between 1998 and 2004. The work has been a London College of Music Grade 6 exam piece for Horn in F since 1994, and an Australian Music Examinations Board Series 1 Grade 4 exam piece since 2003.

A short, suspenseful slow introduction leads straight into the main movement, which is an exciting gallop for both players. The fast tempo aside the range is comfortable and there are no major technical problems for the soloist.
