Both movements are Trinity College London Grade 8 Exam Pieces until further notice
There is not much repertoire for the tenor saxophone, and so this commissioned piece will form a useful addition to an impoverished market. This work was a Guildhall School of Music and Drama exam piece between 2001 and 2004. Both movements were Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) Grade 8 exam pieces between 2006 and 2013, and both movements have also been Trinity College London Grade 8 exam pieces since 2004.
Review: “The slow lyrical beginning of the Elegy will test many tenor players intonation. The second movement is a moderately fast Fugue. It is great that attractive, well-written, serious pieces are being written with the tenor saxophone in mind. This publication would be an excellent test or audition piece.” – Andy Tweed in Music Teacher September 2006
